UNIversities towards CIvic Awareness (UNICIA) is an international consortium implementing a project co-funded by the European Commission (EACEA) under the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange programme.

The UNICIA consortium brings together three European and three African universities:

University of Szczecin (Poland)

The Achievers University (Nigeria)

University Bordeaux Montaigne (France)

University Gaston Berger (Senegal)

University Hradec Králové (Czech Republic)

University of KwaZulu-Natal

The ambition of the consortium is to conduct and make use of scientific research on the characteristics of Generation Z. Subsequently, the results of this research will be implemented through the organization of activities aimed at boosting civic and social engagement among Generation Z. Our mission is to leverage their unique learning styles and social behaviours to foster active citizenship and community involvement.

Through specialized educational programmes, we aim to equip young people and future employees with the critical skills needed for meaningful participation in civic life and to strengthen their contributions to society. During the virtual exchanges, participants will also develop skills valuable from the perspective of employers and the modern labour market, while at the same time meeting the expectations and needs of young people.

UNICIA plans to create a comprehensive programme of activities consisting of six interactive open online courses and five workshops (including facilitated discussions), addressed to members of Generation Z aged 18–26.

Co-funded by European Union 405 997 euro.
